Welcome to Truth of Now, a reflective and human-centered storytelling project curated by Professor Laura Miller. By visiting this site or submitting a contribution, you agree to abide by the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Story Ownership and Use

• You affirm that your submission is original, truthful, and created by you.

• You retain full copyright to your story.

• By submitting, you grant Truth of Now a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to publish, display, distribute, archive, or adapt your story on the website, in print, or in promotional or educational materials.

• You may request the removal of your story at any time by contacting lmillerethicist@gmail.com. We will honor such requests to the extent possible.

2. Acceptable Content

We welcome diverse, personal stories grounded in honesty, reflection, and ethics. However, we reserve the right to decline or remove submissions that:

• Contain hate speech, graphic violence, or illegal content

• Share identifying or confidential information about others without consent

• Intend to deceive, impersonate, or otherwise violate the project’s integrity or legal standards

• May compromise the dignity, safety, or emotional well-being of others

Difficult and nuanced topics are welcomed, but must be approached with care and respect.

3. Community Conduct

• Respectful engagement is expected at all times.

• Misuse of submission tools, spam, harassment, or bad-faith participation will result in removal and/or restriction of access.

4. Editorial Rights

• Minor edits may be made for grammar, formatting, or clarity while preserving the meaning and voice of your story.

• Substantive edits will only occur with your explicit consent.

• You may withdraw your submission at any time.

5. Disclaimer

• This is a non-commercial, educational, and reflective project.

• Submissions reflect the personal experiences of contributors and do not constitute professional advice, clinical guidance, or endorsements.

• Participation is voluntary and does not imply any guarantee of publication or financial compensation.

6. Indemnification

By submitting content or using this site, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Truth of Now, Professor Laura Miller, contributors, affiliates, and any associated institutions from all claims, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your content or its use by Truth of Now

• Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law

• Any infringement of third-party rights, including privacy, copyright, or trademark

You are solely responsible for your submission and its consequences.

7. Privacy and Data Use

• We collect optional personal information (e.g., name, email) only for the purpose of contacting you about your submission.

• We will not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties without your explicit consent.

• Submissions may be published anonymously, unless otherwise stated or confirmed through follow-up communication.

• Any data stored is handled securely and used solely within the scope of this project.

8. Consent and Representation

By submitting, you affirm that:

• You are 18 years or older, or have obtained verifiable parental or guardian consent.

• You have the legal right to share this story, and it does not violate any laws or infringe on others’ rights.

• Descriptions of photographs or events involving others do not breach their privacy, or consent has been obtained.

9. Right to Edit

We value authenticity. Minor edits may be made for clarity or formatting. We will not make significant changes to the content or meaning of your story without your explicit permission.

You may withdraw your submission at any time.

10. Termination of Use

Truth of Now reserves the right to restrict or terminate access to the website or its submission tools for users who:

• Violate these Terms

• Submit content in bad faith

• Attempt to disrupt, harm, or manipulate the integrity of the project

11. Optional Photo Descriptions

If you describe a photo:

• You confirm that you hold the rights to the image if later submitted

• The image does not contain identifiable faces

• You may be contacted for follow-up if you’ve provided an email address

Photos are not being accepted through the website at this time.

12. Future Publications

By submitting your story to Truth of Now, you grant Laura Miller and the Truth of Now project the non-exclusive right to include your contribution—either in whole or in part—in future curated works, such as a printed or digital publication (e.g., anthology, book, or reflective essay collection). These works may be commercially published in order to support the continuation of the project’s mission.

• Contributors will not receive financial compensation unless otherwise specified. However, we are committed to maintaining transparency, seeking permission before making substantial editorial changes, and crediting contributors in accordance with their stated preference (including full name, first name only, or anonymity).

• You may withdraw your submission at any time prior to publication by contacting us directly.

13. Modifications to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions periodically. When updates occur, the “Last Updated” date will reflect the change. A notice will also be placed on the homepage disclosing that changes have been made. Your continued use of the site constitutes acceptance of any revised terms.
